Emergency Ride Home Program

FREE Emergency Ride Home program – All personnel commuting to the Centene Sacramento Campus who uses commuter options such as carpool, vanpool, transit, shuttle, bike, or walk to work (who don’t drive alone) are eligible for the Emergency Ride Home Program (ERH).

  • If you don’t drive alone to work for at least three days of your work week, Centene Sacramento Campus is a paid member of the Transportation Management Association (TMA), Jibe Express North Natomas. The TMA will pay your taxi or rental car if you have an emergency or unscheduled overtime and are stranded at work without a car.
  • Your emergency ride can be arranged through Yellow Cab, (for trips under 20 miles, or if you are too ill to drive), or through Enterprise Rent-a-Car (for trips more than 20 miles).

How to use Emergency Ride Home

  1. Set up a profile in SacRegion511
  2. Add Express Riders to your “My Networks” under Edit Profile
  3. Log your commuter trips to accumulate rewards
  4. Navigate to “My Rewards”
  5. Download a voucher. The voucher pays for the ride and a tip (for a taxi).

Qualifying emergencies

  • Personal or family illness or emergency
  • Home emergency
  • Eldercare or daycare emergency
  • Bicycle theft or breakdown
  • Unforeseen change of work schedule
  • Inclement weather (for walkers/bicyclists)
  • Rideshare disruption (Carpool partner emergency resulted in the loss of ride home)

Valid ERH destinations

  • Commuters home
  • Hospital or Urgent care (non-emergency)
  • Daycare facility or K-12 school
  • Eldercare
  • Local transit station
  • Park-and-Ride lot

Non-qualifying situations

  • Transit delays or disruptions
  • Carpool app provider cannot find a match to get the commuter home
  • Personal errands or appointments
  • Transportation to a doctor or hospital resulting from an on-the-job injury (ERH cannot be used to replace an employer’s legal responsibility under workers’ compensation regulations.)
  • Natural disasters
  • Ride to work
  • Taking an Uber or Lyft to work is not a qualifying alternative commute mode
  • Business-related travel
  • Non-emergency side trips
  • Commuters are not eligible for reimbursement if a separate employer-sponsored ERH program covers them.
  • The program administrator determines other reasons that may be an invalid use of the ERH
